I’ve been interested in trying Rimmel Wake Me Up foundation for a while now, since everyone talks about it’s amazing coverage and the beautiful glow it gives to your skin. In Estonia it costs 19 euros, which is madness, so I ordered it from feelunique.com for 9-10 euros.
First off, the packaging… is ugly. It looks cheap and the glass bottle is heavy and bulky and the orange colour just looks cheap. But the product inside is much better, in fact I’m very pleased with this foundation.
It was impossbile choose between “Classic Beige” and “Soft Beige” until one blogger said that classic has more pinky undertones and soft more yellowy ones. So, for my olive skin, “Soft Beige” seemed to be the perfect shade. The colour turned out to be a bit darker than I’d expected and it was even a bit orangy, but I still managed to blend it in nicely. After my first tanning which will hopefully take place in a month or so, the colour should be perfect for me!
It’s really easy to blend ( I love using my RT buffing brush for that), it has a sweet fresh scent and it gives really decent coverage. With half a pump you get a medium coverage, but if you wait for a while and then apply the rest of the pump you get really great coverage. I still use a concealer on bigger pimples and on my undereyes, but as for the rest of my face, Wake Me Up manages to even everything out nicely.
It has teeny tiny light-reflecting particles in it, but you can’t really see them on the face. If anything, they just help to give a glowy appearance to your skin. This is the reason I wouldn’t recommend this product to anyone with oily skin. It’s really glowy and it will make your face shine after a few hours. I have normal to dry skin and it makes my skin shine quite heavily, so I have to fix it with a powder maybe twice a day. I like glowy skin, so I don’t mind, but again – if you have a problem with oily skin, I wouldn’t recommend this product to you. This foundation would be perfect for someone with dry skin, who has a problem with foundation getting patchy or briging out the dryness. This foundation won’t do that. As for the lasting power, as long as you don’t touch your face too much throughout the day, it will stay put until you want to take it off.
