A few days ago I was sent a gift. Dear Merlin lives in USA and is able to get her hands on all kinds of goodness that we don’t have in Estonia yet. She sent me the new L’Oreal Colour Caresse Wet Shine Stain, that in Europe is known as the L’Oreal Glam Shine Stain Splash. Not really sure why they have different names, but the colours have different names as well. In USA mine is called “Infinite Fuchsia”, in Europe it’s “Milady”. Now that we have that sorted, let’s continue with my opinions on this beautiful little piece of makeup.
First off, I love the packaging. I think it looks more expensive and almost luxurious. Usually drugstore brands ruin their packagings with odd colour combinations (Maybelline mascaras) or cheap plastic packagings (L’Oreal True Match powders) or odd ugly fonts, but with this one, everything is just right. This product promises to give you a strong pigment of colour with a beautiful gloss on top. I like the applicator, but applying this product is still quite difficult. It takes time and a steady hand, but even then you can end up with a bit patcy lips.
The pigment depends on how much you apply it. One layer gives the result that you can see on the picture above, two layers give a stronger colour and three layers is… too much, at least in my opinion. I applied three layers and ended up with way too much and it also started wearing off really quickly, leaving me with patchy lips. The gloss stays put quite well, but after a few hours and a meal it loses it’s “wet” effect and has a subtle shine instead.
I’d like to try a light nude colour and a bright red as well, I have a feeling that a lighter colour would wear off more evenly and as for the red… I don’t own a red lip stain yet, but something tells me that I really should.
